Lcf diary entry (day 1)
DAY 1 / Pre-event setup:
6.30am: coffee is practically inhaled as I go through the list of things we need for the festival for the 100th time.
7.25am: Fairly sure I’ve just done 30mph in a 20mph zone. How much is a speeding fine nowadays?
8am: park the Zipcar at the roastery and google speed awareness course costs.
9.30am: car is loaded and I’m on my merry way. Decided I’ll take the points on my license instead of the course.
11am: snuggly parked next to the festival entrance. At this point, the car resembles a beautiful Tetris masterpiece with coffee, merch and equipment delicately balanced across the car interior.
11.30am: parked 3 streets away from the festival entrance after being told in no uncertain terms that I was allowed to park by the entrance.
12pm: snuck the car back to the venue entrance...live fast die young! Stepped out the whip in slow-mo and felt very pleased with myself as I realised there was no queue for the service lift.
12.05pm: scurried off to fetch a trolley and then...disaster strikes...I hadn’t PRE-BOOKED a trolley. We’d pre-booked a spot at the festival; pre-booked a car; pre-booked lunch; pre-booked a breakdown BUT not a trolley.
2.30pm: after 12 trips from the carpark to the top floor, a quick change of a sweat-soaked tee, we’re here!
4pm: have a quick scout around at all the other stalls and realise how woefully underprepared we are.
4.10pm: dump everything here then drove home and slipped into self-pity.
5pm: picked up the rest of the merch and jumped in a taxi (just like they do in the Richard Curtis films) back to the venue.
7pm: Setup is now complete(-ish).
